Vis

Vis is a Croatian island located in the Adriatic Sea. Throughout history, it has been controlled by various powers including the Liburnians, the Republic of Venice, Napoleonic Italy, and the Austrian Empire. The waters north of Vis were the site of naval battles during the 19th century. The island served as a Yugoslav People's Army naval base until 1989.
